If this is your first time being Backer Acted you might be so overcome by frightening behaviors of the people there. A psy unit has many types of people with mental illnesses. Schizophrenics yelling obscene curse words, comatose individuals, depressed and bipolar individuals roaming the hallway. While others stay bedridden and refuse to eat and just sleep. After your admitted the psy tech does paperwork, your weighed and staff performs a body check on you. You have to undress and put on a gown. They show you the room you are assigned to and the rules of the psy unit are told to you. You see a psychiatrist and a medical doctor. They decide what medications will be given. You are a prisoner now, no access to the outside. You think maybe you don’t belong here because you’re not as bad as the others. You separate yourself from them. Nurses…

My Thoughts On Prince, Michael Jackson, Whitney Houston And The Burden Of Fame!

shelbycourtland

prince michael and whitney

This is what I think about those who entertain us; the ones we laud, now and forever more for their outstanding achievements. I think that they just get burned out. I think that fame and fortune comes with a huge price tag and to pay that price, it means endless hours of grueling and exhausting work, work and work to continue to produce what they are adored for, to produce more for their fans who expect more and more and more from them.

With the recent passing of Prince and the not so distant passing of Michael Jackson and Whitney Houston, there seems to be a common denominator; aging and drugs, drugs to deal with the pain emanating from a body that has been put through a nightmarish and hellish torture. Can you just imagine what it would take to get your body ready for a concert tour? Can you imagine…

HR4EU is a new free portal for online interactive Croatian language learning developed by a group of young linguists from the University of Humanities and Social Sciences in Zagreb with the help of EU social projects funding, reports Croatian news agency HINA.  This project, besides developing and presenting interactive Croatian language lessons, also involves the development of new and the build-up of existing computer-based resources for the Croatian language.

Free and entertaining courses already exist for many languages but not for the Croatian one. We thought it would be most useful to create something like that because, today, languages are most visible exactly via the internet,” said Matea Filko, PhD in Linguistics who works on this project.

Thursday Evening in the Close

Quite lovely. Hugs, Barbara

Lucid Gypsy

Cathedral Close, Exeter after a light meal at Cote, my current favourite brasserie. We crossed towards the cathedral, just because, and had a peep at this view.

Then turned along the green.

cl2The lovely building on the left is Mols Coffee House, dated 1596.

cl3We were heading back to the car, but I lingered long enough for some pics in the early evening light.

Then over the cobbles and away home.

cl7With the Royal Clarence Hotel, supposedly the oldest hotel in England, in the background.

The London Flower Lover

Beloved Flower Lover,

She stood looking out of the bedroom window staring at Calla Lillies. Her father had planted them and each year they just got bigger. She never ever thought to cut them and bring them into the house even though she would buy roses to put into vases.

Not the easiest month. No way. She had all the usual suspects going on, health, finances, romance, parenting, community issues. Her father had just died. Her mother had died three years prior. She had the family house now, yet she also had any and every issues you can imagine. She either had had it or was going through it now.

Yet she had been learning that she had inner abilities to make her life bloom. She  had been learning about her divine self image and knew she had to use her imagination for something else, other than worry. So she turned to flowers becaused she…
