Man Dies Weeks After Shooting By Off-Duty Baltimore Co. Officer
my thoughts go to the families of all the people killed this year by police. And especially to all the black me killed. Hugs, Barbara
Truth- A Right to Fight For...
As each disgusting police murdering an innocent person case reveals itself, yet again, and these wicked cops, with a twisted, hate-filled system behind them, please remember this is a daily occurrence and it has been (police brutality) for many, many, many years. But a change has happened; hope is coming.
When I started 10 or so years ago no body but me and the non-profit org against police brutality seemed to care about all of these innocent, mostly young Black males being murdered, along with elderly people (still going on). But there is hope now! A hope like I’ve never seen; Black Lives Matter and all people demanding justice for the innocent, calling for the punishment and change in this corrupt system which allows these killers and abusers to do such and then not only walk free; but also return to go back to their job as a killer…

Zimbabwe to adopt Chinese yuan as legal currency
Zimbabwe to adopt Chinese yuan as legal currency
The Guardian (UK)
Zimbabwe has announced that it will make the Chinese yuan legal tender after Beijing confirmed it would cancel $40m in debts.
“They [China] said they are cancelling our debts that are maturing this year and we are in the process of finalising the debt instruments and calculating the debts,” minister Patrick Chinamasa said in a statement.
Chinamasa also announced that Zimbabwe will officially make the Chinese yuan legal tender as it seeks to increase trade with Beijing.
Zimbabwe abandoned its own dollar in 2009 after hyperinflation, which had peaked at around 500bn%, rendered it unusable.
It then started using a slew of foreign currencies, including the US dollar and the South African rand.
The yuan was later added to the basket of the foreign currencies, but its use had not been approved yet for public transactions in the market…

No quick fixes
Building from the ground up
Patience clinched tightly in my fists
Not skipping steps
Footing it one at a time
Sometimes, I have to close my eyes
I just want to see a bit more clearly
Focus in on what means most
God blanket me, feels cold on the shore
And the silence is deafening

Few lines and blocks of color carry an explosive and mystical power
It is interesting to observe that what (Georgia) O’Keeffe wanted to achieve was achieved from the start, and has hardly changed— the reducing of a landscape, a flower, or whatever to essence, the isolation of a powerful image which she then enlarges. Sometimes the effect is merely pictorial, and becomes banal and even sentimental (the famous skull with roses), but at her best a very few lines and blocks of color carry an explosive and mystical power. These are paintings that expand the mind, and I imagine living with one very happily.

The Logic of the Police State
I did not know ab out the officers’ bill of rights. I feel that the Black Lives Matter movement is important. It reminds us that we need to look around and see other people and not black, asian and hispanic people. I am proud that Moorby and so many others are raising their voices. I am an old protesting, feminist white woman and I say this is important. Hugs, Barbara

SHORTEST DAY, LONGEST NIGHT
The winter solstice will fall in the early morning hours of Dec. 21-22, marking the first day of winter and the shortest day of the year in the Northern Hemisphere.
The astronomical event also means it’ll be the longest day of the year for those who live south of the equator.
The solstice starts at 4:48 a.m. UTC on Dec. 22 (which is 11:48 p.m. ET on Dec. 21), the moment when the Northern Hemisphere is pointed at its farthest distance from the sun.

Field Notes: Wine Tourism Conference 2015
Automatticians, the people who build WordPress.com, participate in events and projects around the world every day. Periodically, they report back on the exciting things they do when not in front of a computer.
Last week, Happiness Engineers Marjorie R. Asturias and Andrea Badgley attended the fifth annual Wine Tourism Conference in Loudoun County, Virginia. The event brings together leaders in the wine industry — from tour operators to wine bloggers — to talk about wine tourism and digital marketing (and to share a glass or two). Here’s Andrea’s account of her experience at the conference.
Vintners and tour operators from Canada, the UK, and Portugal flew into Virginia last week to connect and talk about how to reach out to wine enthusiasts and welcome them to the growers’ tasting rooms.
Tourism data or emerging markets aside, these folks are passionate about wine. They’d be crafting, drinking, and talking about…
