Strange Story Behind PAC Sponsoring Trump Speech

OK, Fine.

CNN writes that the day before Wednesday night’s CNN debate, Donald Trump appeared before a huge crowd for a campaign rally aboard the decommissioned battleship, USS Iowa.

The event was sponsored by a group called Veterans for a Strong America, which is a PAC, or political action committee. A PAC is supposed to be tax exempt.

However, the founder of Veterans for a Strong America – Joel Arends – apparently forgot to tell the Trump campaign the group’s tax exempt status was revoked by the IRS last May.

Rachel Maddow of MSNBC points out that this fundraiser was for a “veterans group” that apparently consists of a single person – Joel Arends.
