Guest post no 5 by Reshel Shah Kapoor – Director of Black Sheep Documentary

I sit here trying to write something. As I look to my right I have stack of books I need to read for my masters but all I want to do is work on my film and re-live every moment of the last 35 days! It’s been a while since I wrote something. I know there was a big gap from then and now and I apologize, let’s just say film making takes away every minute of your day and night!

Last time I wrote I had spoken about how I was excited to go and film these amazing women and spend 35 days with them and make this into a documentary. It gives me great pride to say we shot it and it’s currently in post production.

It’s weird I guess I had not really been involved in a group of people’s lives so much as I had for…

CURRENT SITUATION AND IBERIAN WOLF – WOLF SOS Cantabria

Wolf Is My Soul

From:  animalextinction.com

If we are asked of non-governmental associations or groups that defend animals there are surely some that are better known than others. But also think of those that work on more specific areas or covering less known animal species. The effort made by each of the people in these groups, whether large or small, is the same: to devote their free time and all their energy to defend something they believe in. Some have larger resources and others less, they do what they can to make a better world, and therefore all have the same right to be heard, and that defending is just as important whether the organisation is large or small. Given this, animalesextincion.es want to give them a voice, and as a reference we have chosen SOS Lobo Cantabria. It consists of a group of people doing an important work in Spain, defending one of the most endangered…

In Greek Mythology The Moirae or Moirai (in Greek Μοῖραι, meaning the “apportioners”, often called The Fates), were the three white-robed personifications of  Destiny (Roman equivalent: Parcae, “sparing ones”). They assigned to every person his or her fate or share in the scheme of things.

Their number became fixed at three: Clotho, (spinner), Lachesis (allotter) and Atropos (unturnable).

Clotho (“spinner”) spun the thread of life from her distaff onto her spindle. Her Roman equivalent was Nona, (the ‘Ninth’), who was originally a goddess called upon in the ninth month of pregnancy.

Lachesis (“allotter” or drawer of lots) measured the thread of life allotted to each person with her measuring rod. Her Roman equivalent was Decima  (the ‘Tenth’).

Atropos (or Aisa, “inexorable” or “inevitable”) was the…

Great (and Not So Great) Expectations

Parent Rap

When Katie came into her ‘artist’ stage and was using our basement as her studio, I made a sign for the upstairs door: Do Not Disturb – Artist At Work!

Expectations can either elevate or deflate us, depending on how it comes into play.

By Jackie Saulmon Ramirez | November 19, 2014

In my Parents Anonymous Group, the topic of expectations came up for discussion after a parent called their child a “pig” and a “slob.” The facilitator said we should set expectations with our children. If we called them negative names like ‘pig’ and ‘slob’ then it would become a self-fulfilling prophesy.

Even though I was not the parent, that very day I began calling Chelsey and Katie ‘ladies’ without knowing whether it would influence them or not. The first few times saying ‘ladies’ I was met with strange looks from both girls but it soon became the norm…

Are we creating a Utopia or a Nightmare? Do the ploice have too much power?

Iamforchange's Blog

Hello world!

I have decided to take a few minute break from my novel writing project. I am in the home stretch with over 53,000 words on virtual paper. There are still probably another 10,000 to 15,000 words to go yet I am feeling quite good about my progress. Like running a cross country race when I was in High School I am catching my second wind.

It is funny that my mom, the local newspaper, and another tragic shooting of a child inspired me to write a blog post. Writing a blog post is a break?

I was chatting with my mom about an article in the local paper “The Salt Lake Tribune” the article and headline titled “Are 45 deaths at the hands of police a cause for alarm?” was about the number of citizens killed by police in the last five years 45 of…
